We become less flexible with age and immobility (working at a Farmington Hills desk job, sitting in a car driving everyday) contributes to that as well. Swinging a golf club requires collaboration on the part of many joints from the feet up to the hands, including ankles, knees, hips, spine, elbows and wrists. Lack of flexibility contributes to many repetitive motion injuries in the joints. Chiro care attempts to address, correct and prevent joint injuries.

My journey to Chiro took time but when I found it I knew there was no other option. Growing up I was constantly involved in sports and my mom, being a proactive parent, always brought me in to see a Chiro. So at a very young age I began getting adjusted and learning the philosophy and still I never thought of being a chiropractor. Fast forward to my Junior year at Central Michigan University, 2 days following an awkward slip and fall on the ice my low back and pelvis totally seized up. I was in severe pain, couldn't sit, and could hardly walk. So I went to see a chiropractor and after a week of adjustments I was back on my feet, feeling great and still the thought of becoming a Chiro never crossed my mind. At the end of that school year I was at a crossroads, I was going into my senior year and had no career path. I had previously studied sports medicine, physical therapy, and teaching, but none of these professions called to me. So one day while pondering my future it hit like a bolt of lightning, I was to become a Farmington Hills chiropractor.

At Farmington Hills Dotto Family Chiropractic, we use a Chiro adjusting style commonly referred to as "Diversified." First, an analysis of your spine is performed. This can initially involve a case history and X-ray pictures of your spine. A special hand arrangement called a "pisiform contact" is used to deliver a specific thrust at the right place and the right time.

When Chiro patients learn that we use laser therapy in our Farmington Hills practice, they have visions of a powerful, steel-cutting beam of light. The "cold" laser we use has only a tiny fraction of the power. Instead, its value comes from the frequency of the light it emits, not its intensity.

From there you will be whisked off on a tour of our beautiful Farmington Hills office and then into our high tech exam room for the consultation with the Doctor. The Doctor will use this information to determine a course of Chiro action for the exam (what tests need to be done and whether x-rays are needed).

The brain and the spinal cord make up the central nervous system. The spinal cord transmits sensory messages to the brain and motor messages from the brain. Sensory nerves carry messages from receptors to the brain. If you touch a hot iron, pain receptors tell your brain to move your hand. Motor nerves send signals from the brain to the muscles in the body. These Chiro nerves help us to do things such as walk in Farmington Hills , kick a ball or pick up an object.
